Men's Aesthetics in Lancashire: Why More Men Are Choosing Doctor-Led Treatments with Dr Nabilah

“Will I still look like myself?”

That is one of the most common questions I hear from men considering aesthetic treatment for the first time. They may want to look fresher, improve their skin, define their jawline or address hair thinning, but they do not want anyone to know they have had anything done.

I completely understand that. In my experience, most men are not looking for a dramatic transformation. They want subtle, well-judged improvements that help them look less tired, more refreshed or more confident.

Men’s aesthetics are certainly not about changing your character or creating an artificial appearance. They are about listening carefully to what bothers you and deciding whether a treatment could help.

Why are more men choosing aesthetics?

Aesthetic treatments are no longer seen as something exclusively for women. Men are becoming more open about skincare, ageing, hair loss and facial definition.

Some of my male clients come to see me because they feel their face does not reflect how well they feel inside. Others want to look more rested at work, prepare for a special event or address a feature they have been self-conscious about for years.

There is also more understanding now that aesthetic treatment does not have to mean looking “done”. The most natural results usually come from taking a conservative approach and treating the right areas rather than trying to do everything at once.

As a qualified GP with more than 20 years’ experience, I always consider your health, lifestyle, facial structure and expectations before recommending anything. There is no single treatment that is right for every man, and sometimes my advice will be to wait or to choose skincare instead.

Wrinkle reduction treatments for a fresher appearance

Men often have strong facial movement and may notice lines between the eyebrows, across the forehead or around the eyes. These lines can sometimes make you look permanently tired, worried or cross, even when you feel perfectly well.

Wrinkle reduction treatments can soften the appearance of selected lines while preserving natural facial movement. My aim is never to make a face look frozen. I want you to continue looking like yourself, simply more rested.

During a consultation, I assess how your facial muscles move and discuss what you would like to improve. The treatment plan may involve one area or a combination of areas, depending on your needs.

There can be temporary redness, tenderness or small areas of swelling after treatment. I will explain what to expect and provide aftercare advice, so you can make an informed decision about timing and downtime.

Jawline definition and profile balancing

A defined lower face is a popular concern among male clients. Some men feel their jawline has become less distinct with age, while others are interested in balancing their profile or improving the relationship between the chin, jaw and other facial features.

Dermal fillers can sometimes be used to add structure or restore volume in carefully selected areas. For men, the approach is different from simply adding volume. Facial proportions, bone structure and the desired level of definition all need to be considered.

I may discuss dermal fillers for areas such as the chin or jawline, but only where I believe the result will be balanced and appropriate. In some cases, the concern may be better addressed with a different treatment, such as a skin-tightening approach.

We also offer jawline tightening injections at our Blackburn and Barrowford clinics. Suitability depends on the cause of the concern, so a proper assessment is important.

My advice is to be wary of treatments that promise to create an entirely new jawline. Natural-looking definition is usually achieved through small, considered changes.

PDO thread lifts for lifting and tightening

PDO thread lifts can be suitable for men who are noticing early laxity around the cheeks, jawline or lower face and want a lifting treatment without traditional surgery.

I have specialised in PDO thread lifts for many years and have been described as “The Thread Queen of Lancashire”. The treatment uses dissolvable threads placed beneath the skin to provide subtle support and stimulate the body’s collagen response.

You can read more about PDO thread lifts at Bella Medica.

A thread lift is not the same as a surgical facelift, and it cannot correct every degree of skin laxity. However, for the right patient, it may provide a refreshed and more lifted appearance. There may be swelling, bruising or tightness afterwards, so I will discuss the likely recovery period with you before treatment.

This is particularly important for men who have work, travel or social events planned. “Little to no downtime” does not mean that every person will look completely unchanged immediately afterwards.

Hair restoration: L’Esthetic hair boosters and polynucleotides

Hair thinning is one of the concerns men speak to me about most often. It can affect confidence at any age, and many men prefer to explore non-surgical options before considering a hair transplant.

L’Esthetic hair boosters are injected into the scalp and are designed to support hair vitality and growth. The treatment contains ingredients including calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine and biotin. The number of sessions needed varies, and the treatment information explains that the hair renewal process may take up to eight sessions, depending on the amount of growth required.

Polynucleotides are another option that may be discussed for the scalp. Polynucleotides are long chains of nucleotides that are used to support skin regeneration and healing. They are also used in hair restoration protocols, although suitability and expected results vary from person to person.

I will want to understand when your hair loss began, whether it is progressing and whether there may be an underlying medical cause. A consultation cannot guarantee regrowth, but it can help you understand the options available and whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Skin boosters for healthier-looking skin

Men’s skin can become dehydrated, rough or uneven for many reasons, including shaving, sun exposure, stress, smoking, exercise and simply getting older.

Skin boosters are not designed to change your facial shape. They are generally used to improve skin quality, hydration and texture. Depending on your skin and goals, we may discuss options such as Profhilo, L’Esthetic, Jalupro, Sunekos or microneedling with a skin booster.

Polynucleotide treatments, for example, work gradually rather than creating an instant change. At Bella Medica, I commonly recommend a course of treatments where appropriate, allowing the skin’s condition to improve over time.

For men who are nervous about injectables, a complimentary skincare consultation can be a helpful starting point. These consultations are available online or in person, and we can discuss your current routine, concerns and realistic options without pressure.

Body contouring and enhancement

Some male clients are interested in body contouring to address localised areas that have not responded as they would like to exercise and lifestyle changes.

Body contouring is not a replacement for weight loss, and it is not suitable for everyone. The right treatment depends on the area being treated, your goals and your overall health. I will always explain what a treatment can and cannot realistically achieve before making a recommendation.

You can find more information about body contouring and sculpting treatments at Bella Medica.

Your safety is always my first consideration. I will not recommend a treatment simply because it is available, and you should never feel pressured to proceed. If you do decide to go ahead, you will receive aftercare guidance and access to a post-procedure advice line with me, Dr Nabilah.

If you are curious about men’s aesthetics in Lancashire but are unsure where to begin, book your free consultation with Dr Nabilah. We can talk through your options and decide what, if anything, is right for you.
