Wrinkle Reduction in Lancashire: Natural-Looking Results with Dr Nabilah at Bella Medica

“Will I still look like myself?”

This is one of the most common questions I’m asked about anti-wrinkle treatment. My answer is always the same: that should be the aim.

At Bella Medica Aesthetics, I focus on softening the appearance of lines while respecting your natural facial movement and features. Anti-wrinkle treatment is not about changing who you are. It is about helping you feel more comfortable and confident in your appearance, with results that look subtle rather than obvious.

If you are considering an anti-wrinkle treatment in Lancashire, I would always recommend starting with a proper consultation. Your face, skin, muscle movement, health history and expectations all matter when creating a treatment plan.

What does anti-wrinkle treatment do?

Wrinkles can develop for several reasons. As we get older, our skin gradually produces less collagen and elastin. Sun exposure, lifestyle, genetics and repeated facial expressions can also influence how lines appear.

Some wrinkles are visible when the face is relaxed. Others are caused mainly by repeated muscle movement, such as frowning, raising the eyebrows or squinting. These are often called dynamic lines.

Anti-wrinkle injections work by temporarily relaxing selected muscles responsible for these repeated movements. This can help soften the appearance of lines in areas such as:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows

  • Forehead lines

  • Crow’s feet around the eyes

  • Bunny lines across the nose

  • A dimpled chin

  • Lines around the mouth

  • Neck lines

  • Certain areas of muscle tension, such as the jaw

The treatment is carefully planned. I do not treat every line or use the same approach for every person. In many cases, preserving some movement is important because expression is part of what makes your face look like you.

Why doctor-led care matters

When you are searching for a doctor-led anti-ageing clinic in Lancashire, it is reasonable to ask about the practitioner’s qualifications and experience.

I am Dr Nabilah Chowdhury, a qualified GP and advanced aesthetic doctor with more than 20 years of medical experience. I founded Bella Medica in 2008 because I wanted to provide a safe, medical-led approach to aesthetic care.

My background in general practice means that I consider more than the area you would like treated. I also take your wider health, medication, medical history and personal circumstances into account. This helps me assess whether treatment is appropriate and whether another option may be more suitable.

A medical environment also gives you the opportunity to ask questions openly. You should understand what the treatment involves, what results may be possible, how long they may last and what the potential risks are before deciding whether to proceed.

The NHS also recommends having a consultation with the person carrying out your procedure and asking about their qualifications, training, experience, insurance, aftercare and what to do if you have concerns. You can read the NHS guidance on choosing who will carry out a cosmetic procedure.

My approach to natural-looking results

There is no single correct amount of treatment. Some people want a very subtle softening of lines. Others may want a more noticeable reduction in movement. Neither preference is wrong, but we need to discuss it honestly.

During your consultation, I will look at:

  • The lines that concern you most

  • How your facial muscles move

  • Your facial proportions and symmetry

  • Your skin quality

  • Your previous treatment experience

  • Your lifestyle and upcoming events

  • Your expectations and desired level of movement

I often recommend a measured approach, particularly if you are new to treatment. It is usually better to begin conservatively and review the result than to over-treat at the first appointment.

The goal is not to make your face expressionless. It is to create a fresher, softer appearance while retaining the features and expressions that make you recognisable.

Which areas can be treated?

At Bella Medica, treatment can be tailored to one area or several areas, depending on your consultation.

Common options include frown line treatment, forehead line treatment and crow’s feet treatment. A brow lift may also be considered where appropriate, using carefully placed wrinkle-smoothing injections to create a refreshed appearance.

Some patients ask about areas beyond the upper face. We can discuss options such as neck wrinkle reduction, jawline tightening injections, bunny lines, chin dimpling and lines around the mouth. Suitability depends on your anatomy and the movement of the muscles in that area.

If your concerns are mainly related to volume loss, skin laxity, pigmentation or skin texture, anti-wrinkle treatment may not be the most appropriate option on its own. In those cases, we may discuss alternatives such as dermal fillers, skin boosters or Profhilo, microneedling or a personalised skincare plan.

There is no benefit in choosing a treatment simply because it is popular. The right treatment is the one that addresses your concern safely and realistically.

What happens during your consultation?

Your consultation is an important part of the process, not just a formality.

I will ask about your goals and what you would like to change. We will discuss your general health, allergies, medication, previous aesthetic treatments and any relevant medical conditions. I will also assess the areas you are concerned about and explain the available options.

If anti-wrinkle treatment is suitable, I will talk you through:

  • Which areas may benefit

  • The expected level of movement

  • The likely treatment process

  • Possible side effects and risks

  • When results may begin to develop

  • How long results may last

  • Any aftercare and follow-up arrangements

Anti-wrinkle treatment is a prescription-only procedure, so an appropriate medical assessment is essential. Not everyone is suitable, and there may be circumstances where treatment should be delayed or avoided.

Bella Medica offers complimentary consultations in person or online, giving you time to ask questions without pressure. You do not have to decide immediately.

What can I expect after treatment?

Most people experience little disruption to their day, although temporary redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur at the injection points.

Results do not usually appear instantly. You may notice changes over the following few days, with the final result assessed once the treatment has fully developed. The duration varies from person to person and depends on factors such as the area treated, muscle strength, individual metabolism and the treatment plan used.

I may recommend a review appointment so that we can assess your result and discuss whether any adjustment is needed. Regular treatment is a personal choice; there is no obligation to continue if you decide it is not right for you.

You will also receive aftercare guidance, and Bella Medica provides a post-procedure advice line available with Dr Nabilah. Having a clear point of contact can be reassuring, particularly if this is your first treatment.
